Man summonsed for non recent sex offences

A MAN has been summonsed to appear in court for non-recent sex offences.

 

Philip Worthington, 63, of Warwick Place, Blackpool will face five counts of indecent assault on a woman over 16 years of age between April 1987 and April 1991.

 

He will appear at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 29th.

 

All the offences were allegedly committed in the Blackpool area while Worthington was a member of the Blackpool Citadel of the Salvation Army.

 

Worthington is also charged with four separate charges of indecent assault and one of inciting gross indecency on another girl aged between 12-17 years at the time.

 

Two other men are also charged in relation to the same victim. Trevor Worthington, 87, of Mayfield Avenue, Thornton Cleveleys, is charged with attempted rape and indecent assault and William Tompkinson, 69, of Raleigh Drive, Blackpool, is accused of 10 offences of indecent assault. They were also members of the Salvation Army.

 

These offences are said to have taken place between 1971 and 1978.

 

Lancashire Constabulary’s Operation Fervent Team is leading the case and anyone with any information should contact them on 101.

 

The men are all due in court on Monday, December 4th.
