Man dies following collision in Burnley

We are appealing for witnesses after a man has died following a collision in Burnley.

The collision happened at around 9.30pm on Saturday, April 1 when a Renault Captur was travelling along Rossendale Road. It collided with an unattended Mercedes Vito which was parked on the road at the time.

The passenger of the Renault Captur, an 80 year old man, suffered a chest injury and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died on Saturday, April 15.

The driver of the vehicle, a 38 year old man from Burnley, was arrested on suspicion driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and is assisting officers with their enquiries. 


PS Dave Hurst of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died.

“An investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision is underway and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened to get in touch with us.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the white Captur being driven between Cliviger and the location of the collision, especially those who may have dash cam footage.”
