Why hasn't my road been gritted?

Lancashire County Council have primary responsibility for gritting the roads, their fleet of gritters and snow ploughs will be working hard in bad weather to keep Lancashire's roads moving.

The snow ploughs are attached to our gritters to plough the fresh snow when it is over 30mm deep as, in these circumstances, salt doesn't work effectively.

They also have 30,000 litres of liquid de-icer available for circumstances where temperatures fall below the threshold where salt can be effective and compacted snow proves resistant to snow ploughing.

They grit the following areas:

Area North - Lancaster, Wyre, Fylde
Area East - Burnley, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Rossendale, Pendle
Area Central & South - Chorley, Preston, South Ribble, West Lancashire

You can get live gritting updates from their gritting updates website and you can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates about adverse weather and gritting.
